In her comeback season, Katie Ormerod becomes the first-ever Briton to win a World Cup snowboard title.
The 22-year-old was awarded the snowboard title after the final event of the season was cancelled due to concerns around the Covid-19 virus.
It was a triumphant return for Ormerod, who had 18 months out of the sport after breaking her heel on the eve of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang.
At the season opener in the big air World Cup, the Yorkshirewoman claimed second place in Cardrona, New Zealand and proved that was just the beginning.
In the slopestyle competition, the snowboarder secured four podium finishes with a silver medal at the Seiser Alm in Italy, plus bronze medals in Switzerland, USA, and Canada.
Ormerod finished the slopestyle season with 2,600 points to clinch the title ahead of Canada’s Laurie Blouin and Brooke Voigt.
In claiming the crown, Ormerod became the first British female and first British snowboarder to complete the feat – James Woods won the ski slopestyle title in 2013.
“I’m so excited to be the overall World Cup Slopestyle Champion,” Ormerod said.
“I have finished this season with five World Cup podiums, three yellow bibs and my first ever Overall World Cup Slopestyle title and Crystal Globe.
“My comeback season has turned out to be the best season of my career so far and it’s been so much fun.”
