British cyclists are back in the velodrome at the 2024 UCI Track Cycling World Championships this October, just two months after winning eight medals on the track at Paris 2024.
A 23-strong team are heading out to Ballerup in Denmark to compete across the week with five gold medals to defend from last summer's event in Glasgow.
Of the 23 cyclists, there are 11 medal winners from Paris 2024, including three-time Olympic medallist Emma Finucane and the gold medal-winning team sprint squad. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming championships.
What is the UCI Track Cycling World Championships?
The history of the track cycling worlds dates all the way back to 1893 where the first edition was held in Chicago, Illinois for amateurs. The first professional races would take place two years later.
The 2024 event marks the 121st edition of the championships, showcasing its long-standing contribution to the sporting landscape.
Tears of joy from @EmmaFinucane123 🥲

How did Britain do at the 2023 worlds?
British track cyclists dominated on home turf at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow last summer.
With five rainbow jerseys and nine medals overall across the week, the hosts topped the medal table and will be looking to do the same in Denmark.
Gold medals went to William Tidball and Ethan Vernon on the men's side, while the women saw sprint victory for Finucane, madison gold for Neah Evans and Elinor Barker and team pursuit triumph for Barker, Katie Archibald, Josie Knight and Anna Morris.
It proved a positive sign of the success that was to come at Paris 2024.
Ones to watch in Denmark?
Team sprint trio Katy Marchant, Sophie Capewell and Finucane return to the arena after winning Olympic gold in a new world record time this summer.
They stormed to victory in a time of 45.186s in Paris and will be back in formation looking to upgrade their silver from Glasgow.
The women's team pursuit squad that won bronze at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome are back in action, with Archibald stepping in for Barker.
Archibald is returning to international competition for the first time after having missed Paris due to a Games-ending injury that halted her chance to add to her glittering collection of Olympic medals.
Only Vernon is missing from the men's team pursuit silver medallists from Paris, as Dan Bigham makes his final apperance on the track before retiring.
Noah Hobbs who won scratch race gold and madison and ominum silver at the 2024 U23 European Championships will represent his country at elite level for the first time in Denmark.
What events are there at the 2024 worlds?
A total of 22 medal events, 11 per gender, will take place across the five days.
The usual Olympic events of individual and team sprint, individual and team pursuit, keirin, madison and ominum will all be contested.
The track cycling worlds will also host an individual time trial, points race, scratch race and elimination race.
Absolutely textbook.

Italy took a lead of over a second at around the halfway mark before we brought it back to win by more than two seconds. An expert performance and a much deserved medal for this team 👏👏
