The athletes selected today have won medals at Olympic, World and Commonwealth level and will be aiming to compete with the best shooters in the world and challenge for Olympic medals this summer.
Team GB will compete across all three disciplines on the Olympic shooting programme - shotgun, pistol and rifle - at the famous Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich.
The squad contains an excellent blend of youth and experience. It is led by Richard Faulds, 35, who is selected for his fifth consecutive Olympic Games and won Double Trap gold at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney to record Britain’s first gold medal in trap shooting since 1968. He also qualified for the final of the 1996 Atlanta Games on his Olympic debut at the age of 19, and has won four World Championships across a career spanning over 20 years.
Faulds is joined in the Double Trap event by current world number one Peter Wilson, 25, who claimed first place and a new world record at the World Cup in Tucson earlier this year, adding to the World Cup and European Championships titles he won in 2011.
The team is also strong in the women’s disciplines, with 2010 Commonwealth Games double gold medallist, Elena Allen, representing Team GB in the Olympic Skeet class. She also won the Grand Prix event in Cyprus in the same year, and completed an impressive double of winning both the World Cup and European Championships titles in 2005.
The Team GB shooting team includes further experience in the shape of 31-year-old shooter Jonathan Hammond, who is the current Commonwealth Champion in both the 50m Rifle individual and pairs events, after claiming gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Also selected today are Olympic debutants Jennifer McIntosh, 20, and James Huckle, 21, who are the youngest members of the shooting squad.

The addition of the shooters brings the total number of athletes officially selected to Team GB for London 2012 to 117 across ten sport disciplines: shooting, archery, athletics – marathon, boxing, canoe slalom, hockey, sailing, swimming, synchronised swimming and table tennis.
The athletes were formally nominated to the BOA for selection to Team GB by British Shooting, the National Governing Body for shooting in the UK.
