Team GB and Old El Paso’s Fajita FriYay campaign concludes with 20,000 meal kit donations to FareShare

Team GB and Old El Paso’s Fajita FriYay challenge has come to a close after racking up 20,000 meal kit donations to FareShare, the UK’s largest charity tackling hunger and food waste.

Kicked off by multiple gold Olympic medallists Dame Laura Kenny, Max Whitlock OBE, Helen Glover MBE and Tom Dean MBE, the month-long campaign was the first in Team GB and Old El Paso’s new partnership.

After an initial donation of 10,000 fajita meal kits to FareShare from Old El Paso, the nation were invited to share their best 'Fajita FriYAY' moment on social media to help double the donation. Team GB athletes joined in to share their support, including diver Jack Laugher, sailor Eilidh McIntyre, modern pentathlete Joe Choong, trampolinist Bryony Page, sprinter Nethaneel-Mitchell Blake, long-jumper Jazmin Sawyers, tennis player Heather Watson and many more.

The #FajitaFriYayChallenge was launched to help address food insecurity in the face of the current cost of living crisis following the results of a major new survey from FareShare revealing that 90% of the charities and community groups that rely on the organisation have had their services affected in some way by rising costs.

Old El Paso are the Official Meal Kit of Team GB, supporting the British Olympic Association in their preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
