Five sport climbers selected to join Team GB at Krakow 2023

Team GB have confirmed the selection of five sport climbing athletes to compete at the Kraków-Małopolska 2023 European Games, which are set to take place in and around the Polish city between 21 June to 2 July 2023.

Dayan Akhtar and Sam Butterworth will compete in the men’s boulder, with Matthew Fall and Rafe Stokes in contention for the men’s speed. Lucy Garlick completes the line-up as she prepares to take part in the women’s lead.

In Modern Pentathlon, Emma Whitaker becomes the latest addition to the squad, joining seven other British pentathletes set to travel to Poland later this month. Her call-up comes after the withdrawal of teammate Charlie Follett, who will no longer compete due to injury.

In total, 177 athletes make up the Team GB delegation for Krakow 2023. The third edition of the European Games will see around 7,000 athletes from 48 European nations compete across a 12-day sporting programme, with Team GB to compete across 18 Olympic disciplines.
