Lizzie Simmonds re-elected as Chair of the BOA's Athletes’ Commission

The British Olympic Association (BOA) has announced that two-time Olympian Lizzie Simmonds has been re-elected to serve another two years as Chair of its Athletes’ Commission.

Formed in 2010, the Athletes’ Commission serves as an advisory group to the BOA, ensuring that the interests and perspectives of Team GB athletes are prioritised in the organisation’s decisions. The Commission plays an essential role in shaping BOA policies and actions to reflect the needs of both current and former Olympic athletes.

The 12-member Commission includes athletes from a broad range of team and individual sports, covering both summer and winter Olympic disciplines.

Simmonds commented: "I am incredibly grateful for the Commission’s trust and support in re-electing me as Chair for a second term. The past three years have been an exciting journey, and after a fantastic Games for Team GB in Paris, I’m thrilled to continue leading the group as we jump into planning for Milan Cortina 2026 and Los Angeles 2028. I look forward to building on our progress and championing the needs and ambitions of Team GB athletes throughout this next Olympic cycle.”

The BOA has also opened the process for six new members to join the Commission. Olympians who have competed since 2012 or are current members of the Team GB Gold Club are eligible to vote in the election for their new representatives. Successful candidates will begin a four-year term in January 2025.
