Hall and Hull selected to complete Team GB golf line up in Paris

Georgia Hall and Charley Hull have been selected to represent Team GB in the women’s golf event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, joining the male pair of Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick at Le Golf National.

Hull will represent Team GB for the second time following a tied seventh place finish on her Olympic Games debut in Rio in 2016, while Major winner Hall will tee it up in the Olympic Games for the first time in Paris.

The English duo will be aiming to emulate countryman Justin Rose, who took gold in the men’s event on golf’s return to the Olympic Games in Rio after a 112-year absence.

Hull made an instant impact after turning professional in 2013, creating history as the youngest player to compete in the Solheim Cup aged 17, and going on to be named the Ladies European Tour Rookie of the Year. Twelve months later she entered the record books again as the youngest winner of the LET’s Order of Merit.

The World Number Eight has won three LET titles and two on the LPGA and has represented Europe six times in the Solheim Cup, helping to claim the trophy on four occasions.

Hall recorded the greatest victory of her career in 2018 when she became a Major Champion at the Women’s British Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes. That year she also made history as the youngest player to win the LET Order of Merit in back-to-back seasons. At age 22 she was a year younger than the legendary Dame Laura Davies when she achieved the feat in 1985/1986.

Awarded an MBE for services to golf in 2019, Hall has recorded two victories on both the LET and LPGA and has competed for Europe against the United States in the Solheim Cup four times.

Team GB Paris 2024 Chef de Mission, Mark England said: “We are delighted to welcome Charley and Georgia to Team GB for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Whilst Georgia is set to make her Olympic Games debut in Paris this summer, she is no stranger to Team GB. Back in 2013 not only did she win two gold medals at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival but she was also our flagbearer at the Opening Ceremony. It is also great to have Charley back in the team for a second Olympic Games.”

Team GB Golf Team Leader, Nigel Edwards, said: “Charley and Georgia are incredibly experienced golfers and fantastic additions to the Team GB golf line up. I look forward to working with both of them in Paris, as Georgia makes her Olympic debut and Charlie returns following an impressive Games in Rio in 2016.”

The Olympic golf competition consists of 72-hole individual stroke play for both men and women. Hall and Hull will compete in the women’s event at Le Golf National from August 7 – 10, following Fitzpatrick and Fleetwood in the men’s event from August 1 – August 4.
