Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow continued their fine form at the Diving World Series with a superb silver medal on the opening day of the fifth leg in Windsor, Canada.
The pair put in one of their most consistent performances of the season in the 10m synchro to score a total of 325.92 and ease into second place ahead of the host nation’s Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion.
The duo made an immediate mark on the contest, scoring 50.40 for their first required dive and had notched 100.20 points as the contest moved into the optional rounds.
But they saved the fireworks for their last dive, as they scored 78.72 for their tough back two-and-a-half somersaults one-and-a-half twists piked effort, to soar eight points clear of the chasers in bronze medal position.
China came out on top once again, but Couch will look to add to her already bulging collection of medals from this year’s series when she competes in the individual 10m event on Sunday.
Elsewhere Jack Laugher and Chris Mears were unlucky in the men’s 3m synchro, as they were narrowly edged out of bronze medal position by Patrick Hausding and Stephan Feck of Germany by just 0.18.
And in the women’s event Alicia Blagg – who dives alongside Tom Daley later today – and Rebecca Gallantree finished five points off bronze in fifth position, scoring 283.29.
